Vance McMurry
Co-Executive Director
Vance McMurry is a West Point graduate and U.S. Army veteran who served with distinction in the 82nd Airborne Division, the 101st Airborne Division, and at the White House. Following his military service, Vance directed the Department of Defense's Continuity of Operations program during the national crisis of September 11, 2001—an experience that solidified his expertise in leading high-stakes organizational resilience and strategic systems.
Over the following 25 years, Vance transitioned his leadership to the private and social sectors, driving growth for high-performance service and technology teams. As a proven social entrepreneur, he founded and led the Texas Interscholastic Mountain Bike League for a decade, scaling it into a premier statewide nonprofit and demonstrating his ability to build durable, mission-driven coalitions.
At Texans for Greater Mental Health, Vance leverages his background in executive operations and large-scale logistics to professionalize the organization’s infrastructure and expand access to innovative mental health solutions. His personal journey in wellness and dedication to veteran recovery fuel his commitment to establishing Texas as a national leader in transformative care. Vance lives in Austin and is supported by his partner, Mary, his three children, and their growing family.
