About Texans for Greater Mental Health
Founded in 2022, Texans for Greater Mental Health (T4GMH) is a grassroots, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to raising awareness and understanding of psychedelic therapies. Our focus is on research and expanding access to innovative mental health solutions. We empower individuals and policymakers with knowledge about these transformative medicines, advocating for a research-first, science-led approach to psychedelic policy reform.
Since its founding, T4GMH has achieved a series of historic, statewide accomplishments that have positioned Texas as a national leader in mental health and psychedelic policy innovation, including:
Managed passage of the Texas Ibogaine Initiative (SB 2308), one of the largest public investments in psychedelic research in world history, establishing a state-funded, multi-institution research program.
Coordinated a statewide coalition of advocacy partners, patients, clinicians, and treatment providers to engage the Texas Medical Board on ketamine rulemaking, ensuring that proposed regulations reflected patient safety, clinical best practices, and the real-world needs of Texans seeking access to innovative mental health treatments.
Supported implementation of the first psychedelic research legislation in the United States (HB 1802), ensuring successful completion of the first-of-its-kind state-funded psilocybin clinical trial.
As we enter our next phase of growth, T4GMH is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and mission-driven Executive Director to lead the organization forward. Our founding Executive Director will transition into a new role as Policy Director and Senior Advisor, ensuring continuity and subject-matter expertise while empowering new leadership to expand the organization’s reach and capacity.
